Global Village, Queen Mary University - London
Global Village is a kitchen diner environment in the student accommodation building of The Queen Mary University in Mile End, London. Global Village is one of the largest self-contained campuses in London and is home to students from around the world. Located alongside the historic Regent’s Canal, it has everything student’s need to live, study and socialise, from cafes, bars and a nightclub to a 24-hour library, computer labs and sports facilities
The interior was created by Lief Design, who incorporated a body of custom-built furniture designed and manufactured by Dams. The furniture designs are variations of the Otto tables and Fundamental chairs available from Dams but as bespoke furniture pieces to create an inspiring dining space to suit any modern university campus.
Dams flexible approach to design and manufacturing, and our ability to understand, define and transform a client’s specific ideas and requirements mean we can deliver a more professional and accurate project. The result is a fresh alternative to the usual concept of a student cafeteria, using a bold composition of concrete and timber with a palette of fresh colours and graphic imagery.
In the latest World University Rankings, Queen Mary ranked just outside the top 100 universities worldwide, and now students at their flagship student accommodation building also have a dining area that reflects their global status.
